Kenyan all-boy band Sauti Sol has received a major honour in the United Kingdom (UK) for their great sense of fashion, months after the quad was put on the spot over what Kenyans coined 'a major wardrobe malfunction'.
Sauti Sol had the privilege to have their picture and style featured in a major UK exhibition called Fashion Cities Africa at Brighton Museum and Art Gallery.
Fashion Cities Africa exhibition, which is dedicated to contemporary African fashion, had Sauti Sol members' mannequins dressed in outfits they wore in 2015 during a performance at Coke Studio Africa with Nigeria's Yemi Alade.
Brighton Museum stated on their social media that they picked the outfit after it became a centre of controversy in the country.
“These outfits were somewhat controversial when worn by Kenyan boy band Sauti Sol (@sautisol) during their Coke Studio performance in 2015. But why? To see the outfits in the flesh and find out why they caused a stir, come along to #FashionCitiesAfrica at Brighton Museum,” the Museum post on Instagram read.
After the recognition, the band's lead singer Bien Baraza, responded with a sarcastic comment: “My bedsheets made it to the UK”.
During Sauti Sol's performance with Ms Alade, Kenyans heavily trolled the boys noting that their dressing was simply horrendous.
Earlier this year during a performance in Mombasa to promote their latest Live and Die in Africa album, the award-winning band was also taunted for putting on 'mosquito nets'.
