Police Boss Caught Pants Down in EACC Trap

A Police Commander was on Tuesday arrested after receiving a bribe from a matatu operator sent by detectives from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

Raphael Kimilu based in Dadaab, Garissa County, was nabbed by anti-graft officials who were investigating bribery allegations by a matatu operator whose vehicle had been impounded.

The detectives reportedly gave the complainant “treated” bank notes amounting to Sh17,000, to get his matatu released.

According to the EACC officials, the matatu owner delivered the cash to Mr Kimilu as a bribe so that the matter would not be taken to court.

The undercover detectives then emerged and apprehended the senior police officer.

They also noted that they were investigating several bribery incidents reported in Daadab and Haghadera.
