Police Officer Stabbed at Central Police Station

A police officer on Sunday attacked his colleague and stabbed him after he tried to intervene in a domestic brawl at Central Police Station in Nairobi.

The injured officer was trying to mediate in a quarrel between his attacker and the wife when the accused stabbed him on the hand.

OCPD Paul Wanjama said that the officer was taken to hospital, treated and discharged adding that investigations into the incident had been launched.

Incidents of police officers getting hurt over domestic brawls have been on the rise in the recent past.

In January, a cop based in Kerugoya, Kirinyaga County, died after being stabbed several times on the chest by his girlfriend, following a disagreement.

In 2015, a police officer from Usenge, Siaya County was viciously attacked by residents after being accused of having affairs with several women in the area.

The incident took place after a woman claiming to be his lover stabbed his wife upon storming into a drinking den where the officer was having a drink with the wife.

He sustained serious injuries after he tried to ran away as angry residents pelted him with stones.
