Police Recover Weapons in Ichaweri Village, Gatundu South

Police on Friday recovered crude weapons in Ichaweri village, Gatundu South constituency which is President Uhuru Kenyatta's backyard.

The weapons were being ferried in a Toyota Noah during the Jubilee nominations which have since been cancelled.

The officers are said to have received a tip-off from members of the public who suspected the occupants of the vehicle whose number plate and bumper had been removed.

The weapons included new slashers and clubs with the authorities suspecting they were to be used to disrupt the Jubilee primaries.

Also recovered were campaign material belonging to three aspirants of the area parliamentary seat. Three suspects were arrested in connection with the incident.

According to witnesses, the group was in a convoy of ten vehicles which were going around the constituency and the occupants were behaving in an unruly manner prompting them to make a report to the authorities.

However, other suspects escaped after realising that police were on their trail.
