MP Waititu Facing Arrest Over Property Destruction

Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu has been summoned by police in Limuru to answer questions in relation to the destruction of private property worth millions.

Waititu allegedly directed a group of goons to demolish a wall surrounding a quarry in Ndiuni village, Ndeiya. The landowner told police that the Kabete MP and a group of youth invaded the property at around 6:30pm on Sunday claiming that the land was being grabbed.

Residents who were interviewed maintained that they did not know the land was private property, as they had been using water from the dam to irrigate their farms for a long time.

They said they would push the Kiambu County Government to buy the land from the owner to be used by the community.

Speaking to The Star, Limuru police boss Mohammed Bakuli said that the incident was being investigated and that all suspects implicated in the destruction would face charges.

“So far no one has been arrested, but people are recording their statements,” he confirmed.

Waititu is eying the Kiambu Governor seat come next year's General Election.
