Police Warn of Al Shabaab's Plan to Attack a School in Nairobi

Nairobi residents have been warned of a planned attack being hatched by the Al-Shabaab militia group in the capital.

According to a statement issued by the County Criminal Investigation Officer, Nicholas Kamwende, he warned that the terrorist group was planning to attack a learning institution in Nairobi.

The warning states that the attack could be similar to that of the Garissa University College executed by the militia group on April 2, 2015, that left 147 people dead.

“Al Shabaab militants led by a Somali Amniyat who is currently in Mandera, are planning to stage an attack on a learning institution within Nairobi employing the Garissa University attack method, using women attackers.

“The women are already in Eastleigh, Nairobi in preparation for the attack, while the operative in Mandera is expected to deliver logistical support before the end of January 2017,” part of the statement read.

The police urged citizens in the capital to remain vigilant.
