President Obama Lived in This House at Kariokor, Nairobi

US President Barack Obama had once in time spent a fortnight at Nairobi’s Kariokor area, a report has revealed.

During his first visit to Kenya which was in 1987, President Obama reportedly stayed in Kariokor for two weeks, NTV reports.

Obama spent time at  house number B1 29 with his step-mother Keziah Obama and half brothers.

Two young men Evans Amoya and Jackson Ngugi who met Obama back then, recount of the two weeks experience with the ‘Obama they knew’.

Jackson Ngugi remembers him as a jovial and friendly man, with whom they would pass time at the estate chatting and even smoking.

Ngugi says Obama preferred to smoke the Sweet Menthol (SM) brand of cigarette.

He further notes that they could neither imagine nor see any signs of  a future president. Ngugi, however, admits that Obama seemed to be a guy with a vision, adducing to the fact that he was schooling at Havard University.

Amoya recalls the unique snickers that Obama donned, noting that the now US president didn't like washing them.

When he inquired from Obama why he never washed the sneakers, Amoya says he was told, "putting water into sneakers would spoil the shoes" which were quite expensive at that time.

The house where Obama stayed now belongs to Keziah Obama’s youngest brother David Nyandega.

Obama’s relatives at Kariokor can only wish that their son would have time to visit them, during his much anticipated visit in the country, this week.
