President Uhuru Kenyatta Should Stop Responding To Critics - COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli

Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to desist from frequent outbursts with his juniors.

Speaking during on Jeff Koinange Live show on Citizen TV, Atwoli stated that the recent verbal exchanges witnessed between the President and a number of leaders was not befitting of his status.

He advised the Head of State to learn from his predecessors who he noted never answered their critics.

“You remember former President Mwai Kibaki? He never used to answer anybody. You'd talk and talk and talk, but he'd just say 'let them talk, they'll keep quiet'. Retired President Daniel Moi also never engaged in public fights with his juniors. Uhuru should stop degrading himself,” he said.

According to Atwoli, the President's constant attacks on Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho were only serving to boost his (Joho) popularity.

"Joho is now the talk of town. Kenyatta has boosted his political career and popularity. Joho can now come vie in Nairobi and beat Governor Evans Kidero, Senator Mike Sonko and anyone else, because he is loved,” he stated.

Kenyatta has been involved in several outbursts, including a spat with Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok, where he used abusive words in public.

Later when launching Mtongwe Ferry in Mombasa, the President told Joho to stop following him since he was not his wife adding that he would streamline the governor.
