President Uhuru Kenyatta's Favourite Spot at State House

Everyone has that particular place that they like to go when experiencing difficult moments at home or work just to cool down. And well, President Uhuru Kenyatta is no exception.

Speaking in an interview with Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe, Kenyatta revealed that he had a favourite spot outside his State House office where he makes some of the most important decisions affecting the country.

The verandah, which is outside his office, overlooks beautiful lawns with life-size carvings of elephants.

“This is actually my favourite spot to unwind. At least sometimes you know....just to get a few minutes and sometimes you know I can get the deputy president and we can have a meal together,” Kenyatta told Maribe.

The President, who was speaking on a wide range of issues since he ascended to power, revealed that one of the most challenging issues is getting time to spend with his family.

The Head of State divulged that he made most of the decisions while seating at the verandah adding that the most difficult decisions need time to reflect and a quiet place.

“And that’s why am saying it helps me reflect and calm me down from a hectic day at the office without political affiliations or personal views,” Kenyatta stated while he walked around the carvings with Maribe.

The President also divulged that the decision the animal carvings within State House was inspired by First Lady Margret Kenyatta, who is an environment conservationist.

He added, “it constantly reminds us of our own natural heritage and protect the wildlife for future generations.”

Kenyatta has been termed as one of the most interactive President's with the common mwananchi especially through social media platforms and also trying to make State House accessible to people by regularly holding forums.
