Prisca Chemutai Bett Sues DP William Ruto for Child Support

A Kenyan woman has sued Deputy President William Ruto for child support.

Prisca Chemutai Bett, on Thursday, moved to the Children Court in Nairobi claiming that the DP had neglected a minor who he fathered with her.

In the case filed by her lawyer Gitobu Imanyara, the plaintiff presented the case under a certificate of urgency seeking that the case be heard expeditiously.

In the lawsuit, seen by Kenyans.co.ke Ms Bett claims that:

1. The defendant (Ruto) has failed/refused/neglected to provide the minor with adequate and-or basic necessities such as good health, food, school fees, decent clothing, shelter and medication.

2.The minor is in dire need of and is entitled to basic necessities since the plaintiff/mother is not able to adequately provide for her.

3. The defendant has totally eschewed and/or neglected his parental responsibility as demanded of him under the Constitution of Kenya.

The woman expressed that unless the case was heard urgently, the 11-year old would continue to “suffer irreparable loss to healthy growth and educational development.”

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, lawyer Imanyara confirmed that Ms Bett was his client but stated that DP Ruto's team was yet to respond to the matter.
