Two prisoners from Bungoma GK prison broke put of the confinement facility under circumstances that have left the warders baffled.
The escape was discovered on Sunday evening at around 5pm when warders saw prison uniforms discarded and thrown on the prison fence.
Bungoma GK prison, unlike maximum security prisons holds petty offenders and remandees.
This is the second time in a period of about four months that prisoners have escaped the facility.
Question on the overstretching of facilities at the prison continue to be brought to light as it emerges that the prison holds almost three times the number of inmates it is supposed to have.
Officials are looking into the possibility of prison warders having had a hand in the escape.
In the meantime, a manhunt for the two escapees has been launched.
