Protests as Two Perish in Septic Tank During Police Raids

Residents of Kapsoit in Kericho County brought traffic to a standstill as they blocked the Kericho- Kisumu highway during demonstrations.

The crowds were protesting the deaths of two of their own, who allegedly died after falling into a manhole during a police chase.

The police are said to have been conducting raids on second generation drinks in the market.

Nine of the people who took to their heels fell into the open manhole.

Seven were rescued with various injuries and taken to the hospital, The Standard reports.

Two, however, succumbed to the injuries- much to the anger of the residents.

The locals took to the streets protesting the deaths, citing that the tragedy could not have occurred, were it not for the septic tanks carelessly left open.

Anti- riot police had to be called to the scene to disperse the crowds and allow flow of traffic on the barricaded highway.
