Pupils Save Head Teacher From Parents' Beating

Pupils and a section of teachers at a school in Embu County saved their head teacher from parents' beating as schools opened.

Following the incident, six parents were on Tuesday arraigned in court and charged for assaulting the school head after reportedly failing to remove him from office.

The Embu Magistrate’s court heard that on January 4, the pupils joined hands with other teachers to help secure Mr Salesio Karanja from angry parents who had dragged Karanja out of the compound.

The six: Mr George Muriithi, Mr Cyrus Mugo, Mr Mbogo Njeru, Mr Njeru Ngare, Mr Mugendi Nyaga, Mr Geoffrey Gitonga and Mr Mugendi Nyaga denied the charges and were each released an a Sh100,000 bond or Sh20,000 cash bail.

Resident Magistrate Vincent Nyakundi set the case for mention on January 25.
