Raila Expresses Confidence in Winning 2017 Presidential Election

Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leader Raila Odinga claims to have received a formula to win in the August 8 election from Ghanian President Akufo Addo.

Speaking during a voter registration drive in Busia County, Odinga stated that newly sworn in President Addo had shared the winning formula he used to outdo former Head of State John Mahama.

The Opposition leader compared himself to the Ghanaian President stating that he was ready to learn lessons from the West-African country and use them to beat President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Odinga alleged that Addo had been denied victory in two previous attempts even after winning but finally succeeded in his third attempt - a situation he (Odinga) claims had happened to him.

The former Prime Minister added that he was also Addo's age mate meaning that if the Ghanian President won at the age of 72, the same could happen in Kenya's upcoming polls.

"The people of Ghana preferred Akufo-Addo against his predecessor John Mahama despite his age, meaning people value veteran leaders," he stated.

The ODM leader declared that the Opposition was ready to make Kenyatta a “one-term President” maintaining that the aspirations would not be halted.

"The Opposition campaign is like the mighty Nile River, flowing forcefully towards the sea. No one can divert its course," he affirmed.

Odinga said that his insiders in government had informed him of an alleged plan to rig elections noting that the Opposition was keenly following on Jubilee operations in the run-up to the polls.
