Raila Reveals Details of His Relationship with Kenyatta Family

ODM leader Raila Odinga has revealed details of a night when he flew with President Uhuru Kenyatta's son, Muhoho.

In a bid to allay speculations of bad blood between him and the President, Odinga disclosed that on Sunday night when returning to Nairobi from his tour of Mombasa, he flew next to Muhoho and Kenyatta's sister Kristina Pratt.

“We have nothing personal just individual political rivalries and that is understandable. In fact, last night when flying back from Mombasa I shared seats with Kristina Pratt and Muhoho. We had a good time,” he told a local daily during a Monday interview.

Despite frequently attacking each other in public, Odinga divulged that he enjoys a cordial relationship with the Head of State, adding that Kenyatta calls him whenever the country is facing difficulties such as attacks.

He further revealed that they were so close that in their personal salutation, they don't address each other by their names but instead use the term “brother”.

“We don't call each other by name, we call each other brother. Our families were close. The Jaramogi children grew up with the Kenyatta's,” he was quoted by the Standard.

To affirm the close relationship between the Kenyatta and Odinga families, Raila's sister, Ruth Odinga, in a separate interview spoke of her passionate friendship with the Head of State which she said dated back to their childhood days.

The Kisumu Deputy Governor recalled how the two used to play together during their old days, with the relationship extending to their secondary school days.

So close are the two families that Muhoho is said to be in constant communication Raila's daughter, Rosemary Odinga, who is recuperating in a South African hospital.
