Respect KANU - Daniel Moi Tells Uhuru Kenyatta

It has now emerged that retired Head of State President Daniel Arap Moi warned President Uhuru Kenyatta regarding KANU when he visited him at his Kabarnet Gardens home in Nairobi on Thursday.

According to a source privy to the meeting, Moi told Uhuru to respect KANU, because his father, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta had been a stakeholder of the party adding it played a key role when the country attained independence in 1963.

It's not yet clear what informed the warning, but the source said the rift between Deputy President William Ruto and his son Gideon Moi could have been a factor.

During the meeting, Kenyatta is said to have asked for Moi’s support as the country heads towards the August 8 election.

West Pokot Senator John Lonyangapuo, who was present at the meeting with Gideon, disclosed that Moi requested KANU to support Jubilee in the upcoming polls.

“The President had a cordial conversation on a variety of issues with Mzee who asked him to ensure that the upcoming elections do not divide the nation,” Prof Lonyangapuo was quoted by the Standard.

It is now expected that KANU will support Jubilee dealing a major blow to NASA that has been trying to lure him to the Opposition.
