Rowdy Youth Block Webuye Road Protesting Deputy President William Ruto's Visit

Two people have on Sunday morning been arrested after trying to block Deputy President William Ruto’s motorcade in Webuye, Bungoma County.

According to Bingham East police boss Zaccheus Ngeno, the two were amongst a group of angry youth who had lit bonfires at Misikhu market along the Webuye-Morale road.

Mr Ngeno stated that police were on high alert and would reign in on any form of unrest as the DP passed through the area.

Sources in the area claimed that the youth had barricaded the road accusing the Jubilee government of failing to address the issues affecting them.

They claimed that the area was a National Super Alliance (NASA) zone and the DP had done nothing to alleviate their suffering in the county.

The youth swore that they would prevent the DP from accessing Kimilili using the road.

Deputy President William Ruto is expected to address a public rally at Nubile after a church service in Sonoko, Webuye.

The chaos comes ahead of a grand rally led by NASA flag-bearer Raila Odinga at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru County where the principals are expected to launch a massive campaign plan ahead of the August 8 polls.
