Salim Mvurya Hints at Why He was Kicked Out of ODM

Kwale Governor and former vice-chairman of the Council of Governors Salim Mvurya has spilled the beans on some secret happenings in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

Mvurya, who was recently expelled for joining Jubilee Party, disclosed that he could have been dismissed because of refusing to use county funds to sponsor ODM projects.

According to the governor, there had been several attempts to have him divert money in order to fund party activities in his county which he rejected, leading to a fallout.

“I have never sponsored anyone and I cannot do that because our budgets are clear and specific, so money cannot be diverted,” he stated.

He pointed out that as the probable reason that could have seen him eventually expelled from ODM in the pretext of being a party rebel.

“I don’t know if that is the reason I was expelled because the governing council made a lot of effort to remove me from ODM,” Mvurya was quoted by the Star.

This comes days after Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale claimed to have evidence showing that CORD leader Raila Odinga was receiving monthly stipends from the Opposition governors.

Duale further promised that he would introduce an adjournment motion for the House to discuss how Odinga had been benefiting from alleged corruption scandals in CORD counties.

The former Prime Minister, however, dismissed the claims as baseless noting that Duale was not his age mate therefore, was not in a position to trade jabs with him.
