Samburu Government Official Dies During Meeting

A senior official in the Samburu County Government died on Wednesday evening while chairing a meeting in Maralal town.

Mr Saidimu Lerankaito collapsed as he was leading a meeting of the county Public Service Board where he was the Chairman.

The deceased was quickly rushed to Samburu County Referral Hospital but was confirmed dead upon arrival.

The sudden demise surprised his colleagues since he is said to have been looking healthy and never showed signs of illness during the meeting.

County spokesperson Marmalei Loronyokwe confirmed the incident but did not divulge on what caused the death.

Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal conveyed his condolence to the family of Mr Lerankaito who he described as an important officer in his administration.

“It is so unfortunate for the County to lose such a leader who made sure that the Board runs smoothly and ensured labour standards were maintained for the sake of development,” said Lenolkulal.
