School Closes Down After Students Go on Strike over Food

Students from one of Embu’s biggest academic giants- Nguvio Boys, went on rampage, destroying property to express anger over matters to do with food.

The students allegedly took the step after they were barred from eating directly from sufurias.

They allegedly had been dissatisfied with the food provided by the school for a while.

Confirming the incident to The Standard, Embu North Education Officer Thomas Omwenga said the students had planned to burn one of the dormitories.

He added that seven students, as per the plot, had sneaked out of school and bought petrol for the mission.

The incident comes as one of many ploys by students who have taken lodging complains a bit too far.

Barely a month ago, three students from Nyeri were arrested after they were caught buying petrol with which they intended to burn a form four dormitory.

Nguvio Secondary students were sent home as the management looks into ways of tackling the issue.
