Spotting a female tout or driver in Nairobi matatus is almost common but seeing a white lady working as a conductor is definitely unheard of.
A picture of a Caucasian lady collecting money from passengers in a matatu has created a buzz online, with many marveling at how fast the industry had transitioned to a more tolerant sector for not just women but also foreigners.
The white tout is seen in the picture shared by @olegachagohk comfortably going about her duty in a way that could suggest she has been in the business for quite a while.
The matatu industry has for a long time been perceived as an insane sector owing to the frequent hooliganism among male drivers and touts who contravene traffic rules at will.
However, the recent trend of more women joining the sector is lauded by many Kenyans with most captured on tape saying female operators were careful and hospitable.
