President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday led other top leaders in mourning the sudden demise of Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua.
In his tribute, Kenyatta remembered the Governor as a great leader, an action-oriented man who served the people of Nyeri with diligence.
He further highlighted some of the great achievements Mr Gachagua had accomplished in the County including infrastructure development, street lighting and bursary for secondary schools students.
Deputy President William Ruto stated that the Nyeri Governor was a steadfast defender of interests of coffee farmers who championed reforms in the sector.
"Condolences to the family and friends of Governor Nderitu Gachagua. He was an astute politician who made a significant contribution to his constituents and the nation," Ruto said.
National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi highlighted: "Fare thee well, the man who has worked hard to serve the people of Nyeri. Condolences to Nyeri people, friends and family."
CORD leader Raila Odinga remember the deceased as a smart politician with the humility, strength and determination to serve his people.
Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero said: "My sincere and heartfelt condolences to the family and the entire Nyeri community following the passing on of Governor Nderitu Gachagua. RIP."
