Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Nominated Senator Elizabeth Ongoro has defected to Musalia Mudavadi's Amani National Congress (ANC).
Ongoro was on Friday received by ANC officials at the party headquarters at Amani House just a day after being ordered to apologise to ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking during the defection, she firmly maintained that she was a strong member of the National Super Alliance (NASA) urging all parties to conduct free and fair nominations.
The Senator is now set to contest for the Ruaraka parliamentary seat which she was barred from vying on an ODM ticket.
On Thursday, the ODM disciplinary committee fined Ongoro Sh1Million for storming the party headquarters and causing chaos at Orange House.
She was also ordered to issue a personal apology to Odinga and a public one to the Orange party over the violent clash witnessed at the headquarters.
Additionally, she was barred from vying for the Ruaraka seat and was advised to look for a different constituency, with the slot going to current Member of Parliament Tom Kajwang’.
