Jubilee nominated Senator John Njoroge on Wednesday announced that he had ditched the Jubilee Party for KANU blaming his move on Deputy President William Ruto.
Addressing a press conference in Naivasha, the Senator accused DP Ruto of trying to control affairs of the party.
He complained about the chaotic scenes that were witnessed during the election of interim party officials in Naivasha region accusing the party of being unfair to its members.
Njoroge who is a strong critic of the DP, however, assured that he was still supportive of President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election and had informed him of his defection.
"I have informed the President on my defection from Jubilee to KANU. We have noticed that corruption has now shifted from NYS to political parties," he stated.
The Senator, who was nominated to represent interests of people living with disabilities, has on several occasions sparked contention following his clashes with Ruto.
Weeks ago, he urged Kenyatta to sack the Deputy President and have him (Ruto) investigated since his personal assistant was mentioned in the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal.
Earlier on, Senator Njoroge sparked a heated debate among Jubilee leaders after claiming that the Mt Kenya region would not support Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
At the same time, he expressed his interest in vying for the Nakuru gubernatorial seat.
