Senator Sonko Trailed For Five Hours at Night

Five people were arrested for allegedly trailing Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko for more than five hours from Machakos to Mombasa on Tuesday night.

The five are said to have followed the senator's entourage using two Porsche vehicles and made stopovers at every point where Sonko stopped.

The former Makadara Member of Parliament's security officers are said to have shot severally in the air when they reached Nyali in an attempt to scare away the trailers. They later on arrested and handed the suspects to police officers.

"We were monitoring them very closely. We later handed them to Nyali police station and recorded statements," said one of the security officers.

They were nabbed with mobile phones and other electrical gadgets which were being analyzed by detectives from Criminal Investigative Department (CID) and Anti-Terror police to ascertain their motive.

Kisauni CID boss Stephen Wambua confirmed the incident adding that appropriate action would be taken upon completion of investigations.

The Senator expressed concern claiming that he had several enemies including land grabbers and politicians.

"Let police do their work. Several politicians including former MPs Mugabe Were (Embakasi), Tony Ndilinge (Kilome) and George Muchai (Kabete) lost their lives after being trailed," Sonko was quoted by the Star.
