Senator Wetangula's Sister Slapped in Mathare

Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula's younger sister was allegedly assaulted on Saturday by men in an ODM convoy carrying Nominated Senator, Elizabeth Ongoro in Mathare, Nairobi.

Emmerryncian Naswa narrated that she was with her son and husband, David Kiganda, driving near the NYS Engineering School when they stopped to give way for a matatu.

"Suddenly, three men emerged and slapped my husband who was driving while another came to my side and slapped me too. They said we were blocking them," Ms Naswa said.

After being assaulted, Ms Naswa claimed that the men took off, with one of them who was armed entering into a black Nissan Navara, while the other two jumped into a white Toyota Wish car.

"Senator Ongoro lowered her window and looked at us then pulled it up and they drove off. I recognised her because I saw her and I know her,” said Ms Naswa.

The Senator's sister noted that she sought treatment at Guru Nanak Hospital where she filled in a P3 form.

An officer at Muthaiga Police station confirmed that Mr Kiganda, recorded a statement under OB number 51/21/11/2015, the Star reports.

Upon seeking clarification from the Nominated Senator on the matter, she said the allegations were false and aimed to create propaganda.

"I am disturbed by these allegations and they are aimed at creating propaganda between me and Senator Wetangula...If people can be slapped in traffic yet we have traffic all over Nairobi, then how many times will we slap each other?" Ms Ongoro said.

The Senator, however, acknowleged that she was at the scene but was not aware of the occurences. She further stated that she only had one bodyguard who was a police officer and knew how to conduct himself.

Another ODM official who declined to be named, said he was part of the convoy and witnessed the commotion but could not confirm if the men were actually the Senator's bodyguards.

Senator Wetangula is reported to have declined to comment on the matter, saying he was not aware of anything that had transpired.
