Residents of Kianjege village in Kirinyaga County woke up to a rude shock when the body of a priest was found dumped by the roadside.
46-year-old Joseph Kinyua Maina who had served as the priest at St. Peter ACK- Kianjege before the incident, was found lying in a pool of blood along the Sagana Highway.
Speaking to Citizen News, family members said the deceased had left his home on Friday afternoon to collect animal feed sent from Nairobi.
They did not hear from him again until the fateful morning on Saturday, when the body was discovered.
The police suspect that the priest could have been murdered elsewhere and the body transported to the scene.
Ndia Deputy OCPD Alexander Murugu confirmed the incident adding that the police have launched investigations into the matter.
