Speakers Muturi, Ethuro Report Each Other to Uhuru

Following Tuesday meeting of Jubilee leaders at State House, reports have now emerged that National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi and his counterpart of the Senate Ekwee Ethuro, reported each other to the President.

It is reported that Muturi and Majority leader Aden Duale told President Uhuru Kenyatta that the Senate was slowing the fight against corruption.

The two allegedly accused the Senate for taking too long handling very important bills of procurement and audit.

According to a report by the Standard, Speaker Ethuro and Majority Leader in the Senate Kindiki Kithure, on the other hand, complained to the President over frustrations from Parliament which they said saw the Senate as an unnecessary House, burdening the taxpayer.

Reports further indicate that they refuted the accusations by their counterparts in the National Assembly, saying they had delivered on the procurement and audit bills and were in the legislative process.

Supremacy battle between the two legislative houses is now going into its third year since the Jubilee government took power.

The latest instance of  the rivalry comes at time when a few Members of Parliament led by Moses Kuria of Gatundu South, who is perparing a bill seeking to do away with the Senate.
