Starehe MP Maina Kamanda Accuses Raphael Tuju of Planning to Rig Him out in Nominations

Starehe Member of Parliament (MP) Maina Kamanda has accused Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju of working with members of the National Super Alliance (NASA).

The MP purported that the Jubilee Secretary General had used party agents to allow Opposition supporters participate in Jubilee nominations to rig out some aspirants.

Kamanda, who is currently awaiting a verdict from the party over the results in the Starehe primaries,  that Tuju was to blame for the nominations row in the constituency.

"I do not understand why the party leadership allowed nominations to be conducted with IDs only, yet other parties were using their member registers. This is where the rain started beating us," Mr Kamanda stated.

Kamanda accused Tuju of plotting to rig him out in the nominations.

On Thursday, Kamanda was declared the winner with 10,374 votes, against his rival, Musician Charles Njagua Kanyi aka Jaguar who got 8,391 votes.

Jaguar, however, disputed the results citing irregularities forcing the Jubilee National Elections Board to cancel the nominations.

Mr Tuju announced that the Starehe nominations would be repeated in order to resolve the matter.
