Stolen KPLC Transformers Found in Politician's House

Police are looking for Chekalani Member of County Assembly (MCA) after officers raided his home and found stolen Kenya Power transformers in Kakamega County.

Armed police and security officers raided Titus Kwoma's home in Lugari after they were tipped off by members of the public and recovered the transformers and other materials vandalised from power lines in the area.

Confirming the incident, Kenya Power chief security officer in Western region Zachary Ombati, stated that they are looking for Mr Kwoma so that he can explain how the goods ended up in his home.

"So far what we have recovered is material that can be used to set up another illegal line," Ombati disclosed.

Ombati divulged that the power supply company had been suffering huge losses due to the high rate of transformer and power lines vandalism in the area.

“We have been setting up lines and when we come back the following day we find the lines vandalised and the material missing," Ombati said.
