Students Boycott Classes Over "Rapist" Teacher

Highridge Girls Secondary School in Parklands, Nairobi, has hit the headlines after students boycotted classes to protest the alleged defilement of their collegue.

The students protested the supposed rape of a form one student, by a teacher identified as Hillary Okeyo, which reportedly occurred last week on Wednesday.

The angered girls demonstrated after the matter was reported to the school's administration which failed to inform the girl's parents about the incident.

Okeyo is said to have grabbed the form one student and pinned her in the latrine where he committed the act.

“The students stood at the assembly calling for the arrest of the teacher while chanting anti-rape slogans until police were called in to quell the chaos,” said the victim’s mother.

Gigiri OCPD Vitalis Otieno confirmed that the incident was reported on Monday at 4pm, leading to the arrest of the suspect on Tuesday.

Police have began investigations in the matter that was reported a week later.

"We are taking the teacher for medical examination today and he will be arraigned in court tomorrow,” Mr Otieno said.
