Students' Narrow Escape As Bandits Attack Bus

Approximately 60 students were left counting themselves lucky for being alive to recount the harrowing experience they went through when bandits shot at their bus.

The students from Nginyang High School were attacked near Loruk along the Marigat-Chemolingot road, Baringo county on Saturday.

Loruk is one of the most volatile areas in the county due to cattle rustlers who are usually heavily armed.

The students were going back to school from a music festival they had attended at Kituro High School.

The incident which took place around 8 pm saw the students and their teachers lie on the floor of the bus, to escape the bullets.

Fortunately, no one was injured.

Police who were patrolling the scene responded but the assailants had gotten away.

According to a report by The Standard, County Commissioner Peter Okwanyo confirmed the incident, maintaining that the bandits will be dealt with as per the 'shoot to kill' order given to deal with banditry menace in the county.

A man hunt for the suspect has been launched.
