Suspected Bandits in 2012 Baragoi Massacre Ask Court to Dismiss Their Case

Seven suspected bandits in the Baragoi massacre that occurred in 2012 on Monday, through their lawyer Mr Robert Ndubi, asked the court to dismiss their case due to lack of evidence.

According to the lawyer, the prosecution team had failed to directly link the suspects to the murder of 42 police officers in the Baragoi massacre.

“I request the court to drop this case since the prosecution has not been able to directly link my clients with the murder as charged,” Mr Ndubi indicated.

The lawyer further argued that his clients helped in resolving the dispute by talking to Turkana morans to return the over 500 stolen animals.

Mr Ndubi also accused the State of hiding evidence, as many bullet cartridges were collected from the scene but only a few were submitted as evidence.

The State, however, argued that the case against the seven suspects had been proved beyond reasonable doubt by all its 13 witnesses who had testified in court earlier.

The suspects, however, denied claims of killing 42 Administration Police (AP) officers who were on a mission to recover stolen livestock in Baragoi, Turkana County.

The case will resume on June 20th, 2017 when the ruling will be made.
