Suspected Robbers Caught Stealing from Mombasa Deputy Governor Hazel Katana's Office

There was drama at the Mombasa County Offices after two people were caught on Wednesday night loading furniture into a pickup truck parked at the compound that houses Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho’s office.

The culprits were arrested and after investigations, it was found that they had broken into the Deputy Governor’s office which is in the same compound as that of the Governor.

In a strange twist, the suspected thieves were released with the area OCPD, Lucas Ogara, stating that the two were set free because no complainants presented themselves to record a statement over the incident.

“Our officers were released the two in cash bail pending further investigations. Our interest is to establish whether there was theft or nor,” Ogara stated in reference to the incident.

The Deputy Governor, Hazel Katana, who was supposed to have been the complainant, stated that she and her staff were not aware of the suspected burglary in her office.

Katana told journalists that she had been out of office for some time after she fell out with Joho.

Katana ditched the ODM party and defected to the Jubilee on whose ticket she will be seeking the Mombasa Senator’s seat in the forthcoming 2017 General Election.
