Taita Taveta Governor John Mruttu Demands The Cancellation of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Nominations

Taita Taveta Governor John Mruttu has demanded that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) should postpone its party primaries.

According to Governor Mruttu, the party primaries in the county were flawed and ODM should be postponed until issues raised by his team were fully addressed.

Mruttu claimed that he had proof that his opponent in the gubernatorial race had compromised the ODM electoral officials in the region in his favor.

“I have forwarded my complaints and evidence to the elections board; my supporters want the grievances to be acted on promptly. We can’t have local election officials colluding with candidates and expect free and fair process,” said Mruttu.

He alleged that the opponent had a meeting with the election officials in Mombasa, and planned to rig him out.

The governor stated that he had already forwarded his grievances to the ODM National Elections Board for action, and expected nothing less than free and fair nominations process.

Mruttu warned that the process might be marred by protests should the party fail to act on his grievances and communicate its progress to him.

The governor warning that should issues of rigging mar the process, there would be no ODM nominations in Taita Taveta County.
