Tirus Ngahu Accused of Threatening to Castrate Journalist

Kangema Member of Parliament (MP) Tirus Ngahu was on the spot after he was captured allegedly threatening to harm a freelance journalist whom he accused of interfering with issues of his Constituency.

In an audio clip capturing a voice believed to Ngahu's, the speaker was heard vowing to castrate the man identified as Simon Mwangi.

According to Mwangi who recorded a statement at Kangema Police Station, the lawmaker called him at night complaining over constant criticism of his administration.

As per the clip, the caller warned about how some people have been interfering with issues of Kangema adding that he would not allow that to happen.

“I have stopped people from coming for you and they can do. Please, if you want me to castrate you I will do so. I don't joke with people and we are not agemates. You can write whatever you wish but know who you are dealing with. You are dealing with the wrong number,” the voice believed to be the MP's is heard.

Speaking in Kikuyu language, the caller added: “I have allowed you to play as much as you want and I can hear you have children there but we are not at the same level. I don't care about your democratic rights but don't think you will tramp on Kangema as you wish. I don't massage people and I also don't need your vote,” the caller states.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the lawmaker through his personal assistant James Mwangi dismissed the clip blaming his political rivals for spreading it.

“I don't think it's that serious like the media is taking it. The audio is not his. If they think it's him they can write about it. It will even give us a millage we don't have,” stated the assistant.

Mr Mwangi further claimed that the person circulating the recording was being used by another aspirant to malign the MP's name.

“Whoever is doing that is an aspirant of the same seat and we don't have time for him. He can even visit CNN if he wishes,” added the PA.

Kangema OCPD Cosmas Washang'oka confirmed receiving the reports and promised to conduct investigations to ascertain the authenticity of the claims.
