Top DJ to Vie in 2017 General Election

A top Kenyan DJ has hinted at contesting for a political position in Mombasa County come 2017 General Election.

In a poster doing rounds on social media, popular entertainer Kabochi Gakau aka DJ Kaytrixx, urges residents of Mikindani area in Changamwe constituency to turn up and register as voters.

“Register now to be able to elect the candidate that will please you as per his manifesto and one who will deliver. It is now our time,” reads the DJ's poster.

However, speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the former Str8up host said that he was yet to decide which position to contest, adding that he was working on necessary financial arrangements before making up his mind.

“If I have any political ambitions, it will come with a big budget. That is why I am doing many things to raise money,” he said.

The 26-year-old's statements were contrary to earlier reports by selected news sites, that indicated he had already declared interest in a Member of County Assembly position.

The award-winning DJ claimed that the poster was just urging people to register as voters and should not be assummed that he was eying any seat.

Kaytrixx maintained that he was still enjoying deejaying and practising farming besides being the CEO of Spin Cycle Entertainment, where he is nurturing young deejays.
