Top Jubilee Senator Explains Why Corruption Should be Legalised

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator has sensationally proposed that corruption be legalised if former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru is not charged over the Sh1.6 Billion National Youth Service (NYS) scandal.

Addressing a gathering at Koloa area in his backyard, Murkomen proposed that the menace could as well be allowed if no action would be taken against Waiguru who was in charge of the Ministry during the alleged theft.

“If she is not going to be charged for the corruption of NYS, we could as well legalise corruption in this country. We better change the law and make theft legal so that everyone gets a little piece,” stated Murkomen.

According to the Senate Deputy Majority Leader, enough evidence had been presented to sustain a trial against the former CS.

“I do not know whether Waiguru is guilty, but the facts presented on the table are enough for her to stand trial in a court of law,” he added.

Murkomen was responding for the first time since the Kirinyaga gubernatorial aspirant linked him to the scandal while she was being grilled by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

During the session two weeks ago, Waiguru claimed that the Senator, Deputy President William Ruto's personal assistant and Majority Leader in the National Assembly Aden Duale had a hand in the scam.

In a rejoinder, the DP warned the gubernatorial aspirant to keep his office out of the alleged loot asking her to carry her own cross and take responsibility.

The more than Sh1.6 Billion was reportedly lost at the department through fraudulent deals and manipulation of payment systems during Waiguru's tenure.

She however, distanced herself from the scam laying the blame on cartels which she said were out to taint her image and crucify her over the matter.
