Top Kenyan Official Busted With Stolen Uniforms

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) on Monday raided the house of deputy Chef-de-Mission for Rio 2016 Olympics and recovered stolen athletic kits.

Ben Ekumbo, who was also the Nock vice-chairman, was ambushed by officers at his residence in Westlands where officers recovered NIKE shoes and sports uniform.

Ekumbo was arrested by the officers after they loaded the stolen kits in a vehicle and is expected to appear in court in the next 24 hours.

Ekumbo deputised Head of Mission Stephen Soi at the Rio Olympic Games in Brazil that were marred by controversy due to mistreatment of athletes and embezzlement of funds.

The Kits were supposed to be used by athletes in Brazil but mysteriously disappeared under the hands of NOCK officials.

On August 27, police raided Nock headquarters in Nairobi and recovered cartons full of uniforms that belonged to athletes.
