Top Politicians in President Uhuru Kenyatta's Jubilee Party Contesting in Party Primaries

The Jubilee party primaries to be held today will see big names battle it out for the governor ticket in top counties, most of which are the ruling party's strongholds.

In Nairobi, Senator Mike Sonko will face off with former Gatanga Member of Parliament Peter Kenneth and former Starehe MP Bishop Margaret Wanjiru.

Police have heightened security with the deployment of GSU officers in some polling stations within Starehe, Dagorreti South, Kamukunji, Kasarani, Roysambu and Embakasi East, Embakasi West and Embakasi Central which are deemed hot spots.

Murang'a County will witness the epic battle for governorship between incumbent Mwangi Wa Iria and his ardent critic Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau.

Former National Agency for the Campaign against Drug Abuse (NACADA) Chairman John Mututho who is seeking to unseat Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua will fight it out with former Nakuru Town MP Lee Kinyanjui and the incumbent.

Earlier on, there was tension after as flyers were distributed around Nakuru town purporting that Lee Kinyanjui had quit the race.

In Nyandarua, former Secretary to the Cabinet Francis Kimemia will kick-start his political career by challenging the incumbent Governor, Daniel Waithaka Mwangi.

Jubilee will also determine the flagbearer for Nyeri County where current Senator Mutahi Kagwe will go head to head with the acting governor Samuel Wamathai and Wahome Gakuru who came second after the Late Nderitu Gachagua in 2013.
