Trump Calls Presidents Muhammadu Buhari and Jacob Zuma

US President Donald Trump on Monday made his first in Africa by calling two African Heads of State.

Trump called Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and South African President Jacob Zuma to discuss a wide range of issues.

According to VOA, the calls were made at the request of the US president who has said little about Africa since he assumed office last month.

The Nigerian presidency disclosed that Trump invited Buhari to visit Washington at a date they would later agree.

Buhari’s team also disclosed that Trump vowed to help Nigeria "in terms of military weapons" to help in fighting radical groups like Boko Haram.

On the other hand, President Zuma's team disclosed that Trump and the South African President affirmed their commitment to "strengthening the already strong bilateral relations between the two countries."

Meanwhile, concerns have begun to emerge on why the US President seemingly bypassed the East African region which includes Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania among other countries.
