Uhuru Disbands Jubilee Campaign Team

President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto have disbanded the Jubilee campaign team that was unveiled in November 2016 at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi.

Speaking at Kasarani during the Jubilee membership drive, Kenyatta and Ruto told all Jubilee delegates that they were now part of their campaign team.

“All Jubilee aspirants are members of the presidential campaign team. We want as you seek for votes for your seat, you also ask for the President’s re-election,” Mr Ruto stated.

The President went ahead and urged all Jubilee aspirants not to fight but work together to ensure eligible voters were registered when the exercise kicks off on Monday.

“Of what help will it be to you if you fight each other so fiercely then you lose and even make all of us lose?” Kenyatta posed.

The Head of State went ahead and promised to award leaders whose counties would register the highest number of voters.

The 63-member campaign team that was launched last year had sparked chaos across the country with Jubilee aspirants claiming they would not oversee free and fair nominations.

According to reports, this could have been the key reason why the President and his deputy opted to disband it.

Meanwhile, Jubilee launched a smart membership card which every member of the party is expected to pay Sh20 to access it.
