Uhuru to Receive Joho’s Deputy Hazel Katana in Jubilee Party at State House on Thursday

President Uhuru Kenyatta will on Thursday hold a meeting with Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s deputy Hazel Katana during his tour of the coast region.

This comes after the deputy governor announced on Saturday that she had ditched ODM for Jubilee, citing frustration by her boss Joho.

“I have been insulted and told I am an idler and lazy. I have been reduced to reading newspapers. I have suffered lack of recognition but I am happy because I will have peace in Jubilee,” Ms Katana said when she defected.

Confirming the meeting, Mombasa Jubilee Chair Matano Chengo divulged that Ms Katana would meet the President to discuss a wide range of issues which he could not disclose.

Mr Chengo disclosed that Uhuru would officially welcome the former deputy governor to the Jubilee party and meet other party members in the Coast region.

“We are currently in a meeting planning on the President’s tour,” Chengo stated.

Kenyatta will be in the Coast region from Wednesday where he will tour Kwale County to issue IDs to the Makonde people who were recently recognised as Kenyans after a walk to State House where they met the President.

Meanwhile, Katana has declared that she will vie for the Mombasa Senatorial seat after abandoning the Orange Party.

However, Joho's Director of Communication Richard Chacha claimed that her defection to Jubilee was a relief to the party.

"We are not interested in sideshows. We are focused on winning the August 8th elections," Chacha said.
