Uhuru Suspends Jubilee Recruitment Drive

President Uhuru Kenyatta has temporarily stopped the ongoing Jubilee Party membership recruitment drive that was launched a few weeks ago.

Speaking in Gatundu during a tour of Kiambu County, Kenyatta announced that the campaign had been suspended to allow Kenyans to registers as voters.

President Kenyatta stated that the recruitment of new party members would resume upon completion of the registration exercise being conducted by the IEBC.

“We have decided to take a break and go-slow on the recruitment of new members to allow our supporters time to register as voters first before the close of the IEBC-conducted exercise next month,” stated the Head of State.

Kenyatta toured various centres in the County as he completed the first phase of a voter mobilisation drive that started last week.

In every stop, he urged residents to turn up in large numbers and enlist as voters, emphasising that it was the only way of ensuring the right leaders are elected.

“If you fail to register as a voter now you will not be able to participate in electing the leaders you want. This means that you will be stuck with bad leaders for five years,” he affirmed.

Jubilee launched its recruitment campaign as well as a smart membership card as it seeks to consolidate its support base ahead of the August 8 General Election.
