Uhuru Urges Raila to Retire From Politics

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday sensationally urged Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) leader Raila Odinga to retire from politics.

Addressing Mukurwe-ini residents during his tour of Nyeri County, Kenyatta assured that the country would take good care of Odinga if he took the offer.

"If he (Raila) quits today we will take care of him and always respect him," he promised.

Earlier on while touring other parts of the County, President Kenyatta accused Odinga of always attacking him in order to slow down the government's fulfillment of its 2013 election manifesto.

Mr Kenyatta took a swipe at the Opposition leader for what he termed destroying the country's economy in 2007 due to preaching politics of hate and propaganda in the country.

Kenyatta stated that the economy had grown to 7% until Odinga started preaching politics of hatred which ultimately ruined the prosperity that was being witnessed.

“The problem in this country is bad politics. We are focusing on negative and divisive politics. Recently, when we allocated money to put up a referral hospital in Nanyuki to ease pressure for Nyeri Hospital, the same person said money has been stolen,” Kenyatta affirmed.

During the visit, the President announced that the government had set aside Sh80 Million for modernization of Naromoru Hospital and also commissioned the construction of a modern market at Chaka trading centre, which is estimated to cost the government about Sh800 Million.
