Uhuru's Advisor on Education Dr Kilemi Mwiria Ditches Jubilee Party

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s advisor on Education matters Dr Kilemi Mwiria has announced his immediate defection from the Jubilee Party.

Addressing the press on Tuesday, Dr Mwiria, who is eyeing the Meru Governor’s seat, expressed doubt that Jubilee would hold free and fair nominations in Meru County.

"I will announce the party on which I will vie for governor by Friday. My supporters have advised me that I am likely to be rigged out if I go through Jubilee Party. I am in talks with several parties that are friendly to the president," Dr Mwiria stated.

He disclosed that he did not have any problem with Kenyatta but the Jubilee team in Meru led by Senator Kiraitu Murungi, Members of Parliament (MPs) Mithika Linturi (Igembe South) and Florence Kajuju (Woman Representative).

“I have no problem with the Jubilee party led by Mr Kenyatta, but there is a problem with Jubilee in Meru,” Dr Mwiria stated.

He claimed that there was a big possibility the Jubilee team in Meru would rig him out during the nominations in favour of Mr Kiraitu who is eyeing the Meru gubernatorial seat.

Dr Mwiria, a former Education assistant Minister, was appointed a presidential adviser on education matters in 2014 after he presented a report on school financing.

During the 2013 elections, Dr Mwiria contested for the Meru Gubernatorial seat but lost to incumbent Peter Munya
