Uhuru's Order During Unveiling of 525 Police Vehicles at Uhuru Park

President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent a firm order to all police officers as the country prepares for the August 8 General Election.

Speaking at Uhuru Park during the unveiling of top-of-the-range police vehicles and equipment, Kenyatta directed all officers to strictly deal with any person who propagates hate speech and incites Kenyans.

The President noted that the election period was a challenging moment for the officers hence the need to deal with any local or foreigner who threatens to disrupt the peace of Kenyans.

“As we enter the electioneering period I ask you and all other agencies concerned to deal firmly with incitement by any Kenyan or foreigner irrespective of their political affiliation,” he ordered.

He reiterated the need for everyone to maintain peaceful coexistence before, during and after the elections.

“Elections come and go, so it is our duty to ensure the country remains united, peaceful and secure. I urge politicians of all shades to conduct their campaigns peacefully to confirm our maturity as a democracy,” he asserted.

During the ceremony, the Head of State launched 525 vehicles which will be distributed to different counties to help in the daily operations of the security agents.

25 of the machines are Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAPs) and will be deployed in Coast and North Eastern regions to assist in easing mobility of police and enhancing security.
