Ukambani MPs Demand the Removal of Muthama From NASA Team Involved in Selecting Presidential Candidate

Four Members of Parliament from the Ukambani region now want Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama to be removed from the National Super Alliance (NASA) talks geared towards picking the Presidential flagbearer

The legislators who include, Kathiani MP Robet Mbui, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau, Susan Musyoka (Machakos County) and Peter Mathuki (East African Legislative Assembly) complained that Muthama would be a hindrance for Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka's chance to clinch the position.

Speaking in Kathiani constituency, Machakos County, the lawmakers mentioned that the rift between the two leaders would not work well for the former Vice President, hence, Muthama ought to be dismissed from the negotiation table.

The four further blamed Muthama for the massive defection from Wiper Party noting that he has been fielding his own preferred candidates.

Mr Muthama is part of 12-member NASA team spearheading the selection of the coalition's Presidential candidate ahead of the August 8 poll.

On Sunday Muthama divulged: "The nomination of a presidential candidate is a different matter but Kenyans can rest assured that it will be easiest for us; we have no problem."

"We are aware that 40 million Kenyans cannot be President; neither will all four be President. Only one can be President. Other people will have different roles to play once we are in power," he added.
