VIDEO: MP Causes Drama at Alcoblow Checkpoint

Kaloleni Member of Parliament (MP) Gunga Mwinga caused a scuffle with traffic officers after his driver was arrested due to drunk driving during the Easter holiday.

The driver was apprehended by the National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA) officials during a crackdown at Nyali bridge in Mombasa County.

Mwinga engaged the NTSA officers in a heated exchange of words while protesting the arrest.

“Are you pushing him? You are harassing this young man. Nonsense!” He was heard venting in the presence of a police officer.

However, the officers stood their ground forcing the MP to admit that it was wrong for any motorist to drive while intoxicated, insisting that every driver was subject to the alcoblow test to ensure road safety.

An NTSA officer Hared Cannon warned motorists against escaping the crackdown, urging them to organise for a driver or use a taxi whenever they were drunk.
