An Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Member of Parliament (MP) burst into tears after Jubilee Alliance Party candidate Philip Charo was defeated in the just concluded Malindi By-election.
Kwale Woman Representative, Zinab Chidzuga, could not hold back her tears after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announced Willy Mtengo of ODM the winner.
Chidzuga was part of a press conference held on Tuesday, led by Charo and Coast region's Jubilee point man Gideon Mung'aro, where they bitterly accepted the outcome of the hotly contested results.
“I want to wish the elected candidate well and assure Malindi residents that the delay in their wishes will soon be fulfilled,” stated Charo.
Willy Mtengo was declared the winner of the Monday poll after garnering 15,582 against his closest rival Philip Charo who got 9,243.
Both Chidzuga and Mung'aro were elected into Parliament on ODM tickets but have since switched their allegiance to the ruling Jubilee coalition.
